An Exciting Couple of Weeks...

The last couple of weeks have been so busy around here that I'm surprised that I even had the chance to grab the few pictures that I have. First and foremost we got a new addition to our family!!! I have always wanted a bulldog and so since we moved into our house we have been looking for one, but they are just too expensive. We were looking on Craig's List one night though and we found an ad for a bulldog named Tank. So I called the following morning and he was still available! Since I no longer drive the lady offered to bring him to me so I could see him. He walked up and it was love at first sight. So Jason gave her a check and the dog was ours!
It would be an amazing story, if it ended there.....but as with everything else with us, there were complications. I knew when he walked up that he had a little water tumor on his side, since Jason had Ivory we weren't too worried about this little bump. However...as the day/night progressed his breathing became really labored. He kinda wheezes and grunts a lot especially when he's excited. So the next day I made an appointment with our vet. I also called their vet and asked for his records to be transferred over...To which they replied..."Ohh so they did decide to get rid of him...We were wondering when they didn't show up for the FIVE surgeries that we had planned on Monday". They ended up not being able to transfer the records because the lady that I got him from wouldn't answer my phone calls or release the records to my vet. So we ended up having to get all of his shots again, he has breathing problems because his nose is so squished and there is something wrong with his upper pallet...but other than that he's in perfect health (lol).

With how much we've spent so far we could have practically bought a puppy...I cried after I figured that out...But Jason just looked at me and whispered that God brought him to us for a reason, that he knew that since we already have a "special needs" pet we would help this dog and love him more then anyone else ever could, without resentment. I am a very strict believer that everything happens for a reason...but sometimes its nice to be reminded.

So here is our new baby...He is 45 lbs. Approximately 3 years old. Loves to lay in the sun and eat ice. Sleeps with his tongue hanging out and snoring. He smells really bad, like trash...His new name is Spike, based on the Gremlin that sings New York, New York in the movie because he snorts and growls just like him. He doesn't mind being tormented: by kids, or us/me dressing him up. The cat doesn't like him (but whats new the cat doesn't like anyone or anything). All and all he is a really good dog and I couldn't imagine life without him now that he's here...smells and all.

Here's Spike getting ready to go to sleep for the night...The lady we bought him from told us not to waste our money on a bed or toys because they would just be a waste of money...The first ten minutes he was in our home he adopted this blanket as his own. My mom bought him his first toy, that he loves. I guess its because they only had him for a week before they sold him to us but they sure didn't know a whole lot about him.

Our new family photo- You can't see Felix very well but he's there on top of the couch behind us, and believe me he was not very happy about it.

He might seem lazy to most of you because in all of the pictures he's laying or sleeping, and to be honest with you...he really is (unless Jason gets him all wound up. But thats why we wanted him. I don't feel very good most of the time so I wanted a dog that didn't take a whole lot of effort, and believe me he doesn't. He lays and sleeps with me all day and never wants to play or fetch (he even gets winded walking to the mailbox)...occasionally he wakes up and wants pet, but other then that he's good. Thats why we love him.

In other news, my Grandad just celebrated his 75th birthday...We hosted the main party, although he celebrated like 30 times. My cousin Chuck came in from New Mexico and stayed the weekend. We all chipped in and got him a c.d. player for his Jeep.

Sheina graduated from beauty school. It was so amazing to be a part of her special day. She said she wasn't going to cry but she did....of course. And we all know that I bawled.

And as a really special treat Mike came into town for a business related trip. We wish that he could have stayed longer, but it was really nice to be able to see him. I got to wow everyone with my new culinary talents (lol, or at least they all let me believe that I did...thank you by the way). He was so sweet while he was here he drove back and forth to Denver every single day, which couldn't have been an easy commute, and then stayed up a lot later then he probably should have hanging out every night. He helped Jason check our furnace to make sure we wouldn't die from carbon monoxide poisoning if we turned it on, and because of him I can be warm now on cold days =). We even threw in a little guitar hero time...Which ironically is the only picture I got. We were really sad when he had to leave but we invited Laurie, Tyson, Rachel and Kariah down for Thanksgiving or Christmas one of these years...Hopefully they'll take us up on it soon because we would love to see them and we have the room. ..

Ohhhh and one last thing....I voted!!!! I never really got into voting, I was never even registered to vote. My dgma said I should get involved though...and told me what an honor it is to be able to vote and stand up for what you believe in and I should feel lucky to have that privilege. So I registered and voted last Thursday. =)
